Clarksburg Elementary School Students Learn About Segregated Schools

On February 6, 2018, Joanne Woodson and Frances Foreman visited with Clarksburg Elementary's fifth-grade students. They shared their experiences and their memories of attending segregated schools. They told of the dedicated teachers who encouraged them to be high achieving students, as well as the hardships such as second-hand materials and long distances to the schools. Students were able to ask questions about their experiences with segregation. This was a culmination of the students' unit on the Civil Rights Movement and the changes that resulted in our country as result of that movement.
